A Year From Now...

"A Year From Now You Will Wish You had Started Today..."
- Karen Lamb

What powerful words to motivate me through this month of May. April was ended on such a sad note, but  it has taught me to not wait until tomorrow, but seize the day. My grandmother loved the beauty of the world & I want to make sure I experience all that I can. The possibilities are endless...

Elizabeth Gilbert ate, prayed, & loved in her year journey through Italy, India, & Bali, finding a truer version of herself. Julie Powell dramatically cooked her way through Julia Child's cookbook, "Mastering the Art of French Cooking" and forever changed her life. The Olympic contestants took 4 years to train for this upcoming Olympics and the fervor of their determination motivates millions for the chance at the next series of games.  What if I started something that could forever change my life?? What if I had that goal & determination??

I've learned that this room isn't going clean itself, the perfect job isn't going to fall in my lap, and those last 15 pounds aren't going to melt off eating burritos every other day. I have to take one step, then another, and then another. A friend of mine recently told me that while he was being there for his Dad at AAA meetings he was learning valuable life lessons that truly affect one's life for the better. The most important one was baby steps. Leaping can overwhelm or even leave you vulnerable to broken ankles (metaphorically speaking). But baby steps are gradual & can result in awesome things. Thanks Alex for telling me that when I needed it.

In the month of May I plan on starting to become Wilton Certified so I can teach more Cupcake Classes. I've already gone to the gym two days this week and loving the natural endorphin rush. Nothing too crazy, some bicycling & treadmill. Hopefully I'll work my way up the machines. I plan to start weaning myself off of Soda. I know it's going to suck, but instead I'm going to try to drink Tea. I want to truly Spring/Summer Clean my apartment, yes even dusting the radiators. It's all within my reach...I just have to remember I can do it, I deserve it.

I really do wonder what my life will be like in a year from now...May 1st, 2013...here I come...

What is something a year from now you'd like to look back on and say I started today or tomorrow?

Monday, Monday...

Good Moring, Monday Morning. I can’t help but hum “Monday Monday” by the Mammas & the Pappas today. It seems like it’s going to be just “one of those days”. I’m already at work trying to jot down these quick ideas before I start the multitude of work I have to complete. If there only was a way to squeeze out a lil more time in the morning for daydreaming and organizing…hmmm…

This weekend was full of love, birthdays, memories & sinking ships. I saw all 4 of my grandparents over the course of the 2 jam-packed days and hearing “I love you Melanie” from each of them warmed my soul. One of the greatest stolen moments. I know I say this a lot, but I’m truly lucky to have them all in my life. One of my grandmother’s turned 87 yesterday. Unbelievable & she is still feisty as ever.  Hehe. Saturday night my friend Zoe and I went to see the movie Titanic on the 100th anniversary of the infamous day. She and I went to see the movie 15 years ago when it first came out. I still cried, but how could you not?  A lot of things have changed since then that it’s truly crazy. We didn’t even have cell phones back then & couldn’t get into the movie without a parent present. Lol. Seeing it on the big screen again I noticed a few new things too. I didn’t realize it was Billy Zane’s family who funded the whole expedition for the Diamond & at 11 I didn’t know that the Guggenheims were on that ship. Poor people, may they all rest in peace.

This week is going to be a mish mosh of cake pops, more family visits, possibly seeing CJ’s new band rock it out in their very own studio space, and the Bridal Shower for my cousin’s fiancĂ©e. I’m basically going to hold on and let the roller coaster take me where it wants to this week. Here’s hoping it all pans out alright!

I have to start working, but I want to leave you guys with this thought.

“It’s never too late to start something great.”

While Zoe and I was waiting to see Titanic, we went to Barnes & Noble real fast. I was rummaging around the bargain books and there was this lil coffee table book about 172 things that it is never too late to start. It was so motivating thumbing through it’s pages I have to pass that thought on to you.

Happy Monday & Best Wishes for the week!

Tomorrow is a Brand New Day...

Another weekend gone by too fast, but another week is coming and it's bringing brand new days. I have big plans for this week...My boyfriend does too!

1. I plan on starting a Real Food Journal. I bought a lil notebook - small enough to fit into my purse - to keep track. Definitely a step in the right direction.

2. I have to actually organize my information for my taxes. Ugh, it sucks, BUT, when my hopeful tax return will go to a much-needed vacation for CJ & I's 2 year anniversary. Maybe somewhere in the Caribbean?!?!  Oooo Exciting...

3. CJ is starting is new band this week. Yeah, he is joining a real band and they have signed on for studio space to practice. He found the prospective band on craigslist and I'm really crossing my fingers for him. He plays the bass so good and he has the passion for it. Hopefully they all will click w/ each other. I hope!!

4. I need to spend more time at the gym. I've only been going once or a twice a week and that is just not working. A mile here or there is not enough for me to dig out of my plateau. I'm also going to try more variety in the machines. Planet Fitness here I come!

5. I have a work goal to complete my current projects. I'm starting to think my Keurig coffee is just not strong enough and I've been hitting roadblocks of tiredness during the day. I gave up soda for lent but I need to have more energy. This week I plan on getting more sleep. I think it'll do me a load of good.

Five things. I think that's a good start for a brand new week. =) Wish me luck!

Do You Have Any Plans for this New Week?
 I'd love to hear...
